Pre-Congress Orientation

 
Sunday, June 13th

 

*       Delegates and Alternates arrive in Jerusalem throughout the day.

*       Transfers from Ben Gurion Airport to the Crowne Plaza Hotel – prior booking only.

*       Check-in to Crowne Plaza and Jerusalem Gate Hotels

From 7:00pm  Masorti Olami & MERCAZ Olami registration for delegates and alternates at the Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism. Please make your own way to the Fuchsberg Center – the address is 6 Agron Street and the phone number is 02-594-5522.

From 7:00pm  Welcome reception and refreshments for delegates, alternates and companions, along with Israeli leaders of the Masorti Movement and Masorti Institutions at the Fuchsberg Center.

8:00pm  Opening social program for the entire Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami delegation, with a program of entertainment in the Kreutzer Auditorium at the Fuchsberg Center including the NOAM Shirat Machar vocal group.

9:15pm  Shuttle bus service from Fuchsberg Center to Crowne Plaza Hotel.

 

Monday, June 14th

 

*       Breakfast at hotels.

7:30am  Meet at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for departure to Fuchsberg Center for Conservative Judaism. Since you will not have the opportunity to return to the hotel until the end of the day, please ensure that you have everything you need with you.

8:00am  Shacharit services in the Moreshet Yisrael Synagogue at the Fuchsberg Center.

9:00am  Orientation session #1: Putting the Congress into perspective at the Fuchsberg Center

          *  Structure of  the World Zionist Organization

          *  Recent developments and changes

          *  How does the Congress work  ?

*       Coffee Break

*       Orientation session #2: Masorti achievements around the world

          *  Regional reports from kehillot, chapters and National Masorti organizations.

1:15pm  Lunch at the Fuchsberg Center

2:00pm  Site visits & tracks:         pre-registered choice

          1.       Tour of the Conservative Yeshiva including a study session with Rabbi Shmuel Lewis, Rosh Yeshiva.

          2.       Visit to the campus of the Schechter Institute in Jerusalem, including a tour of the soon-to-be-opened new building and meeting with Professor David Golinkin. Transport included.

          3.       Visit to the Ramot Zion Masorti kehillah in French Hill, Jerusalem led by Rabbi Chaya Baker. Transport included.

By 5:00pm  Return to Fuchsberg Center

       *  Orientation session #3: Committee Issues in the Kreutzer Auditorium at the Fuchsberg Center.

          *  How do the committees work ?

          *  What are the most significant issues that the committees will deal with?

          *  Discussion groups according to committee (Each delegate, alternate and companion will be assigned a committee. Please check the information board for your committee assignment and the location of your discussion group.)

          *  Feedback and conclusion

7:30pm   Festive closing dinner for the entire Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami delegation in honor of Rabbi Vernon Kurtz, to mark the end of his term as President of MERCAZ Olami, with invited guests from the Masorti Movement in Israel, Masorti and Nationals Institutions, and Israeli dignitaries.

9:15pm  Optional Shuttle bus service from Fuchsberg Center to Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Tuesday, June 15th

 

6:30am                 Shacharit service at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – location to be confirmed.

7:00am                 Breakfast at the hotels.

7:30am                 Early morning delegation briefing at the Crowne Plaza Hotel – same location as Shacharit.

8:45am                 Congress begins at Binyanei HaUma (International Conference Center) in Jerusalem.

•                 Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami’s office at the Crowne Plaza Hotel will be open throughout the day. Room number and office hours will be announced next week.

Wednesday, June 16th

6:30am                 Shacharit service at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

7:00am                 MERCAZ Olami Board elections.

7:15am                 Breakfast at the hotels.

7:45am                 Early morning delegation briefing at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

9:00am                 Congress continues at Binyanei HaUma (International Conference Center) in Jerusalem.

•                 Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami’s office at the Crowne Plaza Hotel will be open throughout the day. Room number and office hours will be announced next week.

 

Thursday, June 17th

 

6:00am                 Shacharit service at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

6:30am                 Early morning delegation briefing at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

By 8:45am           Enter Binyanei HaUma (International Conference Center) for the final day of the Congress.

3:00pm                 Congress concludes.

3:00pm                 Va’ad HaPoel meeting for those elected as representatives for the 2010-2014 period.

•                 Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami’s office at the Crowne Plaza Hotel will be open throughout the day. Room number and office hours will be announced next week.
