New Olim to Kibbutz Hanaton
366 olim chadashim from North America arrived at 8am on a chartered El Al flight to Ben Gurion Airport. Among the arrivals were Shira and Boaz Gura and their three children, Ayala, Eitan and Avichai, who will be settling in Kibbutz Hannaton. They are part of the special "Go North" project of Nefesh B'nefesh, encouraging aliyah to the Galilee. Boaz is a returning Israeli --his family lives in Kiryat Ata. Shira grew up in the Conservative Movement in Cherry Hill, NJ. Judy Gray was there to welcome them, in her capacity as a member of the Va'adat Klita (Absorption Committee) of Kibbutz Hannaton. There was a live webcast of the arrival, and Judy was interviewed before the plane arrived. Shira and Boaz were also interviewed after their arrival. Rabbi Paul Freedman and his wife, Nina, were also present.
"If you have never attended a welcoming ceremony, I suggest you do so" Judy told us. She said that it was an unforgettable experience and a privilege to participate in a Nefesh B'Nefesh arrival ceremony. "It's a true "chavaya" [experience] -- just remember to bring Kleenex!"
