• What is the Va'ad HaPoel ?

• The Va'ad HaPoel is known in English as The Zionist General Council, and is the most important structure within the Zionist movement in the period between Zionist Congresses (the last Congress was held in 2010, and the next is expected in 2014). The Va'ad HaPoel has all the powers of the Congress and oversess and policy and implementation of the decisions of the Congress. The Va'ad HaPoel is elected at each Zionist Congress in accordance with the relative strength of the Groupings of political parties and World Jewish Organizations as per their representation at the Congress. Every Congress Grouping is represented on the Va'ad HaPoel by a number of members equal to one-fifth of the total number of delegates of the respective Grouping at the Congress.
