Marom Ukraine Seminar for Coordinators
By Roman Stamov, Marom Olami fieldworker for Ukraine
On Shabbat Vayechi (Jan. 13-15), 13 coordinators from Marom chapters in Kiev, Lvov, Danetsk, Kierovograd and Chernowitz assembled in Kiev. The participants learned about ideology of Masorti Judaism and the goals of Marom to create a community of Masorti, young leadership. Gila Katz, Ukraine fieldworker for Masorti Olami, spoke about Halachah and the Masorti Movement. The coordinators celebrated Shabbat together in the new Masorti Cultural Center and participated in the dedication of the center on January 15th (see separate article about center).
On Shabbat, participants prayed together and studied parshat ha'shavua with Dr. Leonid Matsikh from Solomon University. I led the discussion on programs and atmosphere on Shabbat and holidays in Marom. After Shabbat, participants worked together on Marom programming for the rest of the year.
We look forward to continuing to develop young leadership for the Masorti Movement in Ukraine.

News from NOAM Israel
By Carmiel Frutkoff
At the end of January a three day Seminar took place for NOAM Israel madichim (counselors) ages 16-18. The emphasis of the seminar was on strengthening leadership skills in preparation for our annual National Shabbat retreats for grades 4-8 that will take place mid- February. During the Seminar, over 100 madrichim from all over the country discussed issues pertaining to their identity and how it came into play while running their weekly activities.
The seminar was a great success and our devoted madrichim are very excited to lead their chanichim on the upcoming Shabbaton.
I must add that returning from this Shabbaton I was especially proud of our madrichim who are an extremely talented and dedicated group of teenagers. The future of our movement is in good hands.
