Yom Yerushalayim Ceremony at Mount Herzl
Yom Yerushalayim (Jerusalem Day) 5771 (Wednesday, June 1st) marked the 44th anniverary reunification of the city of Jerusalem following the Six Day War in 1967. This year, the State of Israel highlighted the story of the arrival to Israel of Jews from Ethiopia. These Jews were disconnected from the rest of the Jewish people for over 2,500 years, but never let go of their yearning to come back to Jerusalem. In the 1980s, when they heard about the remote possibility of realizing their dream, thousands of Ethiopian Jews started walking.

Dr Stephen Wolnek - President MERCAZ Olami
Dr. Stephen S. Wolnek became President of MERCAZ Olami in June 2010, taking over from Rabbi Vernon Kurtz.
Dr. Wolnek has long been active in the Conservative Movement, and is a former President of MERCAZ USA and a former International President of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.
